"Life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it."

Dear fellow Musicians and Patrons of the Arts,
My name is Bonnie Wall. I’m from Hurdle Mills, North Carolina. I am a Junior at UNC Charlotte studying pre-nursing. I hope to get my Bachelors in Nursing and become a travel nurse so that I can see more of the country, as I wasn’t really able to travel much as a kid. I have always loved helping people, especially kids, and I hope working as a nurse will give me happiness. I love spending time with my friends and family, and I am always listening to music. I started playing clarinet in 6th grade for my middle school band and have loved music and band ever since. You can express so much through music and it is an amazing outlet for me.
Throughout this course, I have explored many of the things believed to make up our happiness. While some might hope, sadly, there is no specific recipe for a good life and happiness. Everyone has to face challenges to grow, and we often can’t control what happens to us and those around us. Everyone has to learn to accept what they have and what they don’t and just continue to live their lives as they are and be happy. True happiness requires a balance in life, just like in a band. You need a balance of multiple instruments to make the music sound amazing. If one section plays too loud or out of tune, it can throw off the entire band and possibly ruin the whole concert. What we have to learn to do is to fix it and move on before the concert is over. Life is a concert and you can’t let one badly tuned tuba ruin the whole thing.
