Percussion
Personality and Values
In a band, the percussion section is the driving pulse of the music. They are the ones who control the tempo and pace of the song. In life, your personality and values play a similar role. You values and goals are what drive you to do more and they control your actions and reactions to everything around you. If you ignore the percussion, you get lost in the music and can lose your place. In life, it is extremely important to pay attention to your personality traits and your values, lest you lose your way in life.

For class, we had to take the VIA Character Strengths test. The results reflect the main strengths in you character to help you better understand your best qualities. My top strengths were Kindness, Love, Humor, Leadership, and Fairness. I feel like these results accurately reflect what I would consider my biggest strengths. It was very nice to read some of the further descriptions of these traits and the possible careers for those with similar strengths reflected what I myself want to do. Although it didn't tell me anything new, it was beneficial to have my thoughts confirmed and I think this test would be helpful to everyone who wants to make sure they are doing what will make them happiest. |
This is one of my favorite pieces of music. I have played it twice now, both in high school and college. I think the sound of it is so lively and reflects my personality pretty well. I think it is great to find a sound that reflects your personality as it can help you put your strengths and those traits that you are lacking into perspective. I also think that, personally, the difference that was highlighted from when I played it the second time verses the first time was eye-opening for me. It showed me my growth in perspective of my inner personality on top of my abilities as a musician. |

My friends are extremely important to me when it comes to my values. I am more of an extrovert and being surrounded by people I love makes me happiest. Given that my biggest strengths are kindness and love, close friendships are a huge aspect of my life and personality. I am so thankful for the amazing friends I have made during college as well as the friends I have stayed in touch with from high school. I really value friendship and companionship for people I love and care for. I have always had a very small, close-knit group of friends that have a bond that can withstand time. My friends are a major source of my happiness and I don't know what I would do without them.
